Freeform jade sculpture mounted on a rimu base (KW0007)

Sanded and polished by free hand from New Zealand kawakawa jade, this sculpture is an excellent example of the artist allowing the stone to dictate the outcome. The raw stone was originally from the Russell Beck collection and is of significant physical scale, elite provinance and highly impressive. A sculpture of this size is uncommon and therefore a high-value display piece. The colourations are of a deep forest hue and rich, medium to intense greens. From the Arahura River region. High grade nephrite with crystallite content. Very rare.
