As a carvers stone this piece has virtually no perceived wastage, it is perfectly shaped for a range of carving outcomes. It is predominantly fracture free, originating from the Dunganville region of the West Coast, South Island. Kawakawa from this region is a highly distinctive sub-variety merging the classic deeply saturated characteristics of standard Kawakawa with the unique geological fingerprint of the Marsden-Dunganville alluvial jade fields.
