Large Mounted Jade Boulder
In private possession for 35 years this boulder is a striking entrance way piece in either a commercial or architectural home setting. From Anita Bay in the Fiordland district this is a highly prized and distinctive variety of New Zealand jade known as Tangiwai. It is considered to be the most ancient form of pounamu (jade) in New Zealand, estimated to be more than 500 million years old. Unlike typically opaque or deep green common jades, Anita Bay stone is famous for its exceptional translucency. It features pale green to olive-green tones feathered with white inclusions resembling teardrops.
